I wanted to compile a list of what I think are the best bands in Omaha and why they are my favorites! In no particular order.
1. Noah's Ark Was a Spaceship
[link] Noah's Ark is one of my favorite bands to see live. They have great songs, put on a great show, and always rock!
2. Thunder Power
[link]Thunder Power writes some of the best pop music in town. Their beautiful melodies take me far away from all my problems and put me in a place where I can just smile. Their songs get stuck in my head constantly which means they are doing something right.
3. Cat Island
[link]Nothing will stop Cat Island. Even when Kendra was 8 months pregnant she still got on stage and rocked and made everybody dance to her music. With humor and honesty she belts out her female point of view with a voice and a passion that most girls dream of having.
4. Honey & Darling
[link] I didn't know what to expect when I first saw Honey & Darling and I don't really know how to properly describe them. All I can say is they made my jaw drop. You just have to check them out.
5. Talking Mountain
[link] Talking Mountain has the best live show in Omaha by far! With homemade stage props and lights they are way ahead of most bands when it comes to stage presence. They have great pop songs that make you dance and laugh. If you see them once you will never forget it.
6. Platte River Rain
[link] Ash Rayne Boe and George Prescott (the Scruffy River Rat) are the heart and soul of this band. Ash writes great songs and George makes them amazing songs. Ash writes from personal experience which always seem to reflect my own. She is like my inner voice singing songs I would never sing and writing songs I would never write and still making me feel like I could have written them in some way.
7. Brimstone Howl
[link] They just rock see for youself. I am sure they will be in a town near you soon since they constantly go on tour. They are one of the hardest working bands out there.
8. The Young Don't Speak
[link] A powerful band without any words. A flawless experimental instrumental band. I wish they would play more often or release a CD. They are too good not to be heard.
9. Shiver Shiver
[link]A completely unique band for Omaha. They are the best if not only band of their kind in town. Full of catchy pop songs and and a glam look this duo will rock your world.
10. Paper Owls
[link] Even though they haven't made music in a year a top 10 of Omaha couldn't be without them. Their songs have a sense of mystery to them and always give me chills. Cricket Kirk is by far the best bass player I have ever seen he has a style as unique as Claypool and Flea. But unless they get off their ass you will never see him in a top 50 bass players of all time by Rolling Stone even though he deserves that recognition.

is an other moment of fear i take
for those who shake in there beds
and the demons in there heads
we shall fight for the afraid
